In the fires of a fading star
a man sits and contemplates the universe
he looks out on the broad expanse of everything there is
he's not small, he encompasses it all
and the fires are dying down
and the day is coming to an end
the man reaches up and grasps part of the milky way
and he holds it in his hand holds it in his hand
and he stirs through the stars looking for signs of life
and he blows it away
and the fires are buring down
and the ground is getting cold
and the fires are burning down
but even so, he is still not old
